5th Annual Unity Walk

Sunday, October, 18, 2009
Embassy Row in Washington, DC

Reminiscent of Gandhi’s Walks, thousands gather along Washington, DC’s Embassy Row to walk in “unity”, building bridges of respect as a model for the world to emulate. Walkers visit open houses of a dozen faiths for hospitality, listen to moving speeches from international figures like Rev. Mpho Tutu and Arun Gandhi, and engage in thought-provoking dialogue with one another.

This year’s theme of “Celebrating Our Faiths, Uniting to Serve” builds on a movement born as a peaceful response to the tragedies of 9/11 and incorporates sustainable service projects for all faiths to participate.
When: Sunday, October 18th from 1:00pm to 5:30pm
Route: Embassy Row, Washington DC: The walk will begin with opening remarks at the Washington Hebrew Congregation. Attendees will then visit numerous houses of worship along the route to the Islamic Center of Washington where remarks will be given and followed by a singing closing procession to the Gandhi Memorial.
