Sun Sep 11 WBPF Meet Up at 9/11 Unity Walk (2011)




Please join WBPF Friends at 
12:30 p.m. at the 9/11 Unity Walk starting location 
Washington Hebrew Congregation, 3935 Macomb Street NW, Washington, DC  (MAP), when we will have a short reading, a brief mediation and socializing before the 9/11 Unity Walk registration at 1 p.m. After that we will mindfully walk together or individually along Massachusetts Avenue, embassy row, visiting diverse faith institutions along the way that will be holding open house -- with special activities at the Washington Islamic Center and the Gandhi Memorial (see Walk schedule below) Please bring your friends.



This year, 9/11 Unity Walk commemorates 10 years since the terrible losses of September 11, 2001

  • 12:30 p.m. WBPF Meet Up & Meditation
                      Meet us in front of the Washington Hebrew Congregation
                      Look for our small "WBPF" sign

  • 1:00 p.m. Registration begins
  • 1:30 p.m. Welcome Ceremony & Program begins                  
  • 2:00 p.m. The Walk begins
  • 3:15 p.m. Everyone will meet at the Islamic Center (2551 Massachusetts Avenue NW)  where there will be a youth service presentation, along with additional interfaith speakers. Then all participants will walk together to the Gandhi Memorial at the intersection of Massachusetts Ave and Q St NW (zoom out for street map) for a culminating time of reflection and send-off, ending by 5:00 pm.

Closest metro stations to Washington Hebrew Congregation

There will be shuttle buses available at the end of the route by the Gandhi Memorial (intersection of Massachusetts and Q NW) to bring people back to Washington Hebrew Congregation.
